- Italian Govt Orders ISPs to Block The Pirate Bay
Swedish BitTorrent Tracker site responds by setting up mirror site called "Labaia," which means "The Bay" in Italian, and showing how futile efforts to censor the Internet in a supposedly democratic country can be. It was almost two weeks ago that I reported on how Colombo-BT.org, the apparent largest BitTorrent tracker site in Italy, had been shut down by Italian police. The Guardia di Finanza undertook the action in cooperation with FPM, the Italian anti-music piracy group affiliated with the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI). In a strange sign of things to come Enzo Mazza, president of the FPM, called Colombo-BT.

I wrote earlier about the $1,000 (picky, picky, $999.99) iPhone application called "I am Rich." It actually made it onto the App Store, but then was pulled after a lot of criticism over it. In actuality, it was a fairly harmless, though useless app --- useless except for showing that the owner was rich enough to be able to afford it.

How do you know when a scientific problem is finished? Biologists have been cracking open the cell and studying its molecular insides for a very long time now. How much more is there to learn? Perhaps it seems obvious that we are still missing much: we cant cure cancer very well, for example. On the other hand, one could ask, whats really keeping us from curing cancer, a lack of basic understanding or insufficiently developed technology?

The Third Law of Thermodynamics states that as the temperature of a pure substance moves toward absolute zero (the mathematically lowest temperature possible) its entropy, or the disorderly behavior of its molecules, also approaches zero.
